Holistic Yoga Teacher Training Program

Dusty Becker Yoga

Dusty started practicing yoga at the University of Oregon in 2006. He began teaching yoga to members of the Ultimate Frisbee team at the U of O in 2008. His foundations began with Ashtanga and Anusara Asanas, along with Tai Chi and Qigong. He continued with other styles of yoga including Vinyasa, Hatha, Restorative, along with others, and classes from some unique and wonderful teachers. His practice shifted significantly in 2009 after a knee injury, followed by other health issues. But he returned to teaching after a time and completed a 200 hour yoga teacher training at the Tai Chi Yoga Center with Master Suman Barkas in 2012. The training focused on Holistic Meditation, North Indian Style Asanas, Tantric Philosophy, and other yogic practices, surrounding a theme of personal development for overall well-being. Dusty taught classes in Eugene until 2013, then moved to Portland for over 10 years.

My classes integrate movements within range of motion, dynamic stretching, classic Vinyasa flow with my own nuanced approach, and traditional Hatha Yoga postures. I focus on alignment, individual modifications, and movement with the breath. I add longer active isometric holds to build strength, and longer passive stretches to release and align fascia.

But my main goal in teaching is to lead a practice with freedom of self expression, and exploration of the self, alongside an intentionally focused mindset, with presence and awareness.
